Epiphany

I often work off epiphanies I have at the last minute.
The most recent, for theory, is that I should be investigating systems....not so much connections. Connections are a part of systems. There are THOUSANDS of systems out there. There is even a theory about systems. I recently said to my tutor..."I'm finding that I'm really enjoying working in this systematic way. And looking back I can see that I have been at my most productive when working systematically. I find it interesting that I am working systematically, to create a system." Which sort of started the cogs moving for this epiphany. I want to find out what systems other people use, how these influence their work, how they help their thinking; how parts of systems can be altered, added to, manipulated, taken away, or new pieces infiltrated into the system and how it can change the whole outcome; physical systems, communication systems, geological systems (my favourite at the moment is continental drift...I think its such a nice thought that all the continents were once joined, and there are little remains/evidence of this connection in the form of fossils and the like, and I really like the thought of the earth as ever-changing and moving...a fluid system, yet in our short life-spans, it is so solid, so permanent (on the whole - not including things like flood, eruptions, etc)....New Zealand will always be at the bottom of the world for my life time but where will it end up in the next 10,000 years?), social systems (6-degrees of seperation, small world theory...), technical systems, technological systems (the internet, computer games...). The list goes on!
I'm still looking at connections, especially the connection between people and the physical environment, the here and the now. I think this will be something that will be a part of my work for the rest of my making years. But perhaps, for now, for this theory paper, systems is 'where its at' and where I'll be spending my time investigating :)
Better get to it!
