I haven't posted much in the past while. Ive been having a hard time. Nothing was working, not just at uni, but anywhere. I have been pretty miserable.
My tutor, Ilse-Marie suggested a book to me, and I read the whole thing yesterday, front to back.
And LOVED it.
Bit of a wake up call, which is just what i needed.
A bit of a pick me up, you can do it, soldier on, fight fight fight!
Ive been full of inspiration and motivation ever since (so, for about 24 hours now!).
Oh yes, the book:
the WAR of ART, Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles. Steven Pressfield.
Im a sucker for self-help and motivational texts, and this one was right up my alley!
Its witty, its informal, it pokes fun at everything and everyone, it embarrsses the reader, its laug-out-loud.
Its just what I needed.
As the resolute quote geek:
"The more scared we are of a work or calling, the more sure we can be that we have to do it." p40
"The more Resistance you feel, the more important your unmanifested art/project/enterprise is to you - and the more gratification you wil feel when you finally do it." p42
"The artist must be like the Marine. He has to know how to be miserable. He has to love being miserable. He has to take pride in being more miserable than any soldier or swabbie or jet jockey. Because this is war, baby. And war is hell." p68
